What is the current gender situation in the Norwegian music industry? Rhiannon Edwards will use her talk to try and educate us on this matter. Edwards is involved in a wide range of initiatives and organizations across the music field. Currently she is the CEO of Musikkutstyrsordningen – a funding arrangement set up to improve the infrastructure in the music sector. Through their grant scheme, music rehearsal spaces or venues can get funds to invest in music equipment or enhance room acoustics. Musikkustyrsordningen are also the inititive takers of a program called Teknikk i Balanse (Balancing Live Music Technology) working to get more female sound technicians. Edwards is chairman of the board at AKKS Norway – an organization working to recruit female participation in the music business. She is also a board member at The Art of Balance – a network of 35 organisations across Norway working for gender equality in music.
